Biokovo Nature Park spans over 196 square kilometers of limestone peaks, deep karst canyons and lush valleys, making it one of Croatia’s most spectacular protected areas. Located just inland from Makarska Riviera, it combines alpine landscapes with Mediterranean influences.

Hiking Trails & Peaks
With more than 30 marked trails, Biokovo caters to all fitness levels. Highlights include the ascent to Sveti Jure, the park’s highest summit at 1,762 m, and the Biokovo Skywalk, a glass-floored viewpoint offering dizzying panoramas of the Adriatic.
Biodiversity & Geology
The park is home to over 1,500 plant species, including 25 endemics, and shelters rare wildlife such as mouflon, chamois and golden eagles. Its unique karst formations and cave systems tell a story of millions of years of geological evolution.

Visitor Information
Biokovo is easily accessible from Split and Dubrovnik, with regular bus connections to Makarska. The park offers visitor centers at Vošac and Ravna Vlaška, guided tours, picnic areas and mountain lodges for overnight stays.
